Holy Cows On The Moon, You’re 19

NOTE: We have each separately prepared our notes and picked our favorite pictures.  Don’t hate us because we love you.

Hey Frank-a-lank, Frankstarz, Fransters, Frankie!  So it’s your birthday, which means it’s a day to celebrate all the awesome things you’ve done!  Here’s a small list of everything we’ve done in our friendship that was awesome:

  1. You refurbished a homecoming dress for me.
  2. You made me wear clown makeup in public for an art project.
  3. Memoria  l Day sleepovers. Enough said.
  4. Late-night Sunday adventures.
  5. Going out even though half the time we were broke.
  6. Impromptu outings to the Budget.

That’s just a handful of things we’ve done together!  As we get older, I’m sure there’ll be more fun things to come.  So thanks for being such a great friend, I hope your birthday is just as fierce as you are, and here’s to another year of Frankie!  Happy Birthday friend!

Love, Megan

Frankie, darling, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! 19. Can you believe it? It is almost like you’re a grown up or something. I hate how we always forgot to decorate you’re locker. I feel horrible about that, so I will attempt to rectify it today. I hope you have a lovely birthday. HAVE FUN. Remember, you can now legally drink in Canada. Not that I condone that sort of behavior… just remember that to the Canadians you’re a grown ass woman. I love October for three reasons: cheap candy, slutty costumes and you dragging me to a bunch of scary stuff. Literally, there is not one month that would more appropriate for you to be born into.

It is normally in birthday letters that one reflects on their best memories pertaining to that person. One of the best memories I will ever have is of that dance in eighth grade when I was by myself at the end of a long line of unknown boys when you and Mich started talking to me. I was so happy to have friends that I never let you guys go. To think we were just 13… and now you’re 19. You are old as hell. 😉 We looked like such babies then. (I’ll attach a picture.) From our shopping trips when you exposed me to the interesting world of Goodwill, to the dances when you were my unofficial date ‘cause I felt totally awkward with my official one; I have always and will always treasure our friendship. So consider this my birthday card to you! It is a thank you for all the times I would completely derail our plans or act like a brat without you hating me. It is a declaration of how our friendship will never end. Ever. And it is lastly a testament to your fabulous character that you will always make new friends and change other people’s lives. Just like you forever changed mine.

To many more,

Mich, Sab, and Frank May 2014 Sab and Frank 2010

Franks.  It’s been a long time.  I am so jacked to make a speech at your wedding and say, “This chick, I’ve known her since I was five.”  Okay, I’ll probably be more eloquent than that and I’ll probably cry and then you’ll yell at me for crying and that’ll be the story of how I ruined your wedding.  But anyway, right now we’re just basking in the glory of life and wondering how the frack we got so awesome (okay, how you got so awesome).  But lemme tell you, I think you were born great.  You know that Shakespeare quote?  Well, you’re that person that had greatness thrust upon you.  I used to wonder how someone could be extraordinary at singing and dancing and acting and writing and school and being pretty and being interesting and being a frickin weirdo in the coolest sense and knowing how to use commas on top of it all.  I mean sheesh.  Cut it out already.  But now I realize you’re just a freak of nature and it’s pretty cool to say I’m friends with one of those.  Stealing Megan’s idea of the list, here are some highlights of our friendship to me.

Our failed talent show attempt, which may have taken me a long time to get over, but if we don’t have shitty experiences together then what are we gonna tell our kids?

That video we wrote for our whole class in eighth grade and then filmed.  We were practically real directors.

The notebook we “lost” and rewrote; a sub-category being how much I enjoyed the sleepover this summer where you read our ridiculous middle school past aloud to me.

Photoshoots/covers/creating our own bands and writing songs—basically anyway we tried to make it in the entertainment business.  P.S. If you ever want to see yourself dramatically slow-mo running on a barely moving treadmill and being fanned with a phone book, I still have that video on my phone from our “band practice.”

That time on Sophomore Retreat that I almost made you cry ‘cause I was crying and you told me to cut it out.  I really enjoyed that.

The letter you wrote me for Senior Retreat which I frequently read when I’m feeling bad about myself.

College.  Because I’m learning that we don’t have to go to school together to be friends.  We don’t even have to talk every day.  In the end, I know you’ll be there.

And as important as everything we’ve shared thus far is, I’m more excited for what’s to come.  Matching tattoos, dancing all night at the clubs, having kids to pit against each other, having husbands to pit against each other. Ah the life.  Oh, and Happy Birthday.

  1. OMIGOD, Omigod you guys, this is so cute. With this lousy weather and below 80 temperature (During October in Iowa, who would’ve thought?! 😉 ), I wasn’t sure what kind of day this would be. BUT since I decided to stop in at the library and find This Piece Of Wonderfulness, I think it’s gonna be a good day. …as long as I remember to go home and grab my Chem homework before class… I’m surprised to say that I was totally expecting some gawd-awful pictures but I actually enjoyed them! (K, maybe not the fail leg hold *ahem* Megsy :P) This brings back sooooo many awesome memories! Even from my days as a professional grade school basketball playa. Thank y’all soooo much! Just picture me stupidly grinning at the computer screen in a public place and that’s my epic birthday morning, haha. LOVE TO YOU ALL!

P.S. I can’t believe I’m only a teenager for one more year! I feel like an adult today. Maybe it’s the having-to-pay-for-stuff-myself thing.
P.P.S. I’m totally rocking black lipstick right now; in case you were wondering what I’m doing with my life at this exact moment XD
